BACKGROUND

Justin's foray into motorsports began at the beginning of 2014 at the young age of seven.  After getting hooked on racing during the Daytona 500 broadcast that year, he attended his first NASCAR race at Auto Club Speedway barely a month later where his favorite driver won.  Soon after, he followed that up with a visit to the Long Beach Grand Prix, to get a feel for both open-wheel and GT road-racing action.

PROFILE

Justin Blumenfeld is a fourteen year old club-level championship winning sponsored kart racer competing in the LO206 Class division in Southern California.

In short order, he began practicing with game-based simulators to get a taste for what he was seeing at the track and on television.  Each weekend was filled with watching races, learning the lingo, and reading about the many techniques and terminology.  In the meantime, he attended more races at Sonoma, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Homestead.  It wasn't long before he was ready to try his skills out behind the wheel in an actual car.

His first experience was on May 18th, 2014, in an electric kart at MB2 Indoor Raceway in Sylmar, CA.  Soon after, he was given the chance to run a quarter midget at the Orange Show arrive-and-drive in San Bernardino.  While fun, it lacked the excitement that the sprint racing provided him, so indoor karting looked to be the best avenue for him to hone his skills. He began driving at indoor tracks such as MB2 and K1 Speed, as well as gas karts at Miramar Speed Circuit and Fast Lap locations.

This type of driving came quite natural to him and suited his style better, and he was quickly winning a large percentage of his races.  The next logical step was to compete in a season format, and towards the beginning of 2016, he began the K1 Speed Torrance Junior League competition.  In this 10-race format season, he won seven of the ten races, grabbed the pole six times, and finished on top by winning the championship.

In the Spring of 2016, Justin was given special permission to race adult karts at MB2, and entered a number of Sunday Night GP events there, scoring his first podium finish in his third try and multiples thereafter, going on to finally become the youngest winner of a Grand Prix race at the venue and taking home the $150 top prize.  Some of the top adult drivers at the location took a strong interest in him, and went on to forge lasting friendships with him.  Within a few short months, he worked his way up the ranks to become one of the top competitors at the facility, consistently ranked inside the top 40 out of the nearly 400,000 people who have raced there, reaching as high as #17, and continues to be well regarded and welcomed by the staff and other regulars when he occasionally visits.

In September of 2016, Justin acquired his first outdoor gas kart, a full-sized CRG KT1 chassis powered by the Briggs & Stratton LO206 four-stroke engine, custom built by Eric Nelson of Seventh-Gear.com.  Justin took his driving to the next level in outdoor Junior-Class gas karting at CalSpeed at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA where he scored back-to-back 2nd place podium finishes in both of his first official races and went on to garner a first place championship in the WSKA Winter Series at Willow Springs Raceway, followed by multiple podiums and a third-place championship in his first full season with Tri-C in 2017.

In that first full season, Justin was able to land three sponsors, including Galpin Ford, Pit Posse Motorsports, and Arrowhead Water.

In 2018, Justin returned for his second year of outdoor competition, racing in the Adams Saturday Nights series at Adams Motorsports Park, WSKA Winter Series Season 2 at Willow Springs Raceway, and the Tri-C Season at CalSpeed at the Auto Club Speedway.  Both Galpin Ford and Pit Posse Motorsports returned as sponsors for a second year in a row, and two new sponsors came onboard with Molecule Sports and America's Tire / Discount Tire. For the 2019 Season, Americas Tire/Discount Tire, Galpin Ford, Pit Posse, and Dr. Jeffrey C. Liu, DDS were onboard.

Justin is a fun-loving, light-hearted young man with a competitive spirit and a willful drive to succeed.  When something interests him, he goes all in and doesn't stop learning, practicing, and working to be the best he can.  He has won first place in a regional spelling bee,  taken both first and third place in his bowling league (his high game score is 244), and is a recreational golfer.  He is a highly gifted student with top grades, and his smile and personality are highly infectious.  It's no surprise that his future is bright, and only time will tell what's in store for him next.
